Helgusteinn / Helga’s Stone (2022)

Multi-media installation: Plexiglass box, mirror-film, glazed ceramic, plaster, sound.

The first installation in the „Personal Mythology“ series. The real-life Helga‘s stone stands tall under the waterfall Helgufoss in Mosfellsdalur, Iceland.
Its connection to my conception is the root of this work, as I recreate a version of my self living in the stone. The stone’s insides are represented in the interior of the mirror box next to it: A glossy terrain and a sleeping figure within it.

Featured in the the co-exhibition “Slinkur“ at Korpúlfstaðir in Reykjavík, Iceland on the 8th-11th of December, 2022.

With the installation came the 8mm video work “Móðurkvið / Mother’s Womb”, which can be viewed here: https://vimeo.com/albjart/motherswomb?share=copy
